LAS VEGAS – Wynn Resorts employees will soon have access to free COVID-19 testing in Las Vegas.
The resort company on Wednesday announced a partnership with University Medical Center to grant Wynn workers access to testing at no cost.
Employees there will be able to get testing at UMC-designated locations in Las Vegas beginning the week of May 4, according to the company.
“We are extremely proud to be able to share UMC’s laboratory and testing capabilities with our neighbors at Wynn Resorts,” said UMC CEO Mason VanHouweling in a statement. “A vibrant tourism destination relies on our expert healthcare system to care for all who live in and visit Las Vegas, and we look forward to working alongside Wynn Resorts to bring us all back together again.”
It is unclear whether neighboring casino companies on the Las Vegas Strip will establish a similar partnership with UMC.
“We are still working on our reopening plans,” Caesars Entertainment spokesman Richard Broome said in an email. He would not elaborate on testing possibilities.
Las Vegas Sands said the company is looking at a variety of options regarding testing but declined to share specifics.
MGM Resorts International was not immediately available for comment Wednesday morning.
There are now 4,898 Nevadans who have tested positive for COVID-19 as of early Wednesday. The number of deaths statewide remains at 230.
So far, 41,028 people have been tested, but it’s likely that the true number of people with the virus is higher, as a statewide testing shortage has limited the number of people who can be screened.
