The Washoe County Health District will release data on positive coronavirus cases by zip code.
According to health district spokesperson Scott Oxarart, it could be available to the public as soon as Tuesday.
“It will be an interactive map with zip codes with a couple options to break down the data,” Oxarart said.
Last week the health district said it was not providing the information because of limited resources, despite having the public data, and expressed concerns that people would look at the zip code information and presume risk.
The health district changed course on Monday and said the information would be available this week.
“It is very important to understand, where their residence is, where they’re isolating, does not indicate where they contracted the disease,” said Washoe County Health District Officer Kevin Dick.
The health district said releasing the information by zip code was the most feasible and could be done quickly.
Last week the Southern Nevada Health District released testing results by zip code and by city. According to data updated on April 18, zip codes 89031 and 89110 had the highest number of positive test results in Clark County.
