Two teenagers were killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Fourth of July, according to the Sparks Police Department.
The crash was reported at about 3:05 a.m. on Saturday on Sparks Boulevard, just south to Baring Boulevard, authorities said in a news release.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a passenger car with major damage on the southbound lanes of Sparks Boulevard.
Authorities said the officers also found two teenage boys, a 16-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger, in the car.
Both unidentified teens were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators the car was traveling at a high speed and drove through the intersection. The car then continued to travel south on Sparks Boulevard when it left the roadway and hit a tree, authorities said in the news release.
Investigators said they do not know if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
The Sparks Police Major Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and took over the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sparks Police Department’s Traffic Division at 775-353-2432 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
