Add Sparks to the list of cancelled July 4th events.

The Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks announced that Star-Spangled Sparks has been cancelled due to state and local restrictions on performances as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis.

The fireworks display and the festival in Victorian Square are both cancelled.

Star Spangled Sparks is the region’s largest fireworks display since 1986 and brings thousands of spectators to downtown Sparks.

“We had hoped to at least move forward with the fireworks display as scheduled for the benefit of our local residents and guests, but it simply isn’t feasible at this time,” Nugget senior vice-president and general manager, Mark Sterbens, said in a news release.

Sterbens said the Nugget Casino Resort is looking at options to produce a fireworks display later this year, if it becomes possible to do so.

Earlier this spring, the July 4th events usually held around Lake Tahoe were also cancelled.
