Reno police arrested a man in connection with a fire that injured one person and destroyed a portion of the Plaza Apartments in downtown Reno Saturday evening.
Police arrested Leonel Hernandez, 38, who is charged with arson in the first degree. Several residents were displaced by the fire, according to a KOLO-TV report.
A Reno police officer observed a suspicious subject near 777 West 5th Street at approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a police statement. The suspect was actively starting a fire, according to the officer, and the fire quickly spread to the adjacent structure.
Emergency crews from the Reno Fire Department and REMSA responded to assist.
One citizen was injured as a result of the fire, and was transported to the hospital for
non-life threatening injuries.
