An 18-year-old man is facing a charge of attempted murder for allegedly beating and shooting someone at close range earlier this week near a Motel 6 in Reno.
Vincent Reynolds was booked Tuesday on a charge of attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon and was being held at the Washoe County Detention Facility.
According to the Reno Police Department, his arrest stemmed from a fight that was reported at about 11:17 p.m. on March 24 in an area on East Ninth Street, near the motel on Wells Avenue.
Authorities said the victim was beaten and shot in the upper torso.
Detectives with the Regional Gang Unit recognized the suspect, identified as Reynolds, from previous encounters.
They interviewed the victim, witnesses and reviewed surveillance video, authorities said in a news release.
Then at about 10:50 p.m. Monday, detectives found Reynolds, interviewed him, and then arrested him.
The Reno Police Department did not release information on the events leading up to the fight.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Secret Witness at 775-322-4900, online at www.secretwitness.com, or text the tip to 847411 (TIP) with the keyword “SW.”
