South Lake Tahoe police are investigating a Black doll found hanging from a power line in a local neighborhood Tuesday.

Investigators said the case does not amount to an actual hate crime. Still, they described the discovery as “disturbing” and as a “hate incident” and are working to identify the person or people involved.

The doll was found hanging with a string around its neck, according to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

Crews from Liberty Energy quickly removed the doll from the power line.

“At this time, we have not located any witnesses or leads,” authorities said in a news release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at 530-542-6100.
