Nevada Air Guard training this weekend; expect alarms and sirens near airport

The Nevada Air National Guard conducted a flyover in honor of caregivers in the Washoe Valley on Tuesday April 28, 2020.

The Nevada Air National Guard will be running tests near the Reno-Tahoe International Airport that require various loud alarms from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon, according to the Nevada Guard.

Authorities say intermittent sirens, tones and spoken words might be heard over the public address system in the area of the 152nd Airlift Wing. Members of the Nevada Guard may also be seen wearing various types of gear and equipment.

Officials for the Nevada Guard advise people not to be alarmed. The exercises are a normal test of the on-base notification system and members of the base.
