I-80 westbound lanes reopen at Nevada state line after major crash accident near Emigrant Gap

Authorities redirect cars after a crash near Emigrant Gap closed I-80 westbound at the Nevada state line and Truckee on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

UPDATE: According to California Highway Patrol, all I-80 westbound lanes have now reopened.

ORIGINAL: The California Highway Patrol closed Interstate 80 westbound at the Nevada state line Saturday after a “major injury” crash. 

Authorities are now turning traffic around at the Nevada state line and Truckee. Multiple cars were involved in the crash, which officials say took place near Emigrant Gap.

CHP is asking drivers to make alternate travel plans at this time.
